How to assess a public-document production pilot

A small pilot can test the handoff without exposing an unpublished filing.

Illustrative controlled document production layers

Select permitted material

Use synthetic content or a public filing with the right reuse permissions. A public final filing does not make a private Word draft, employer template or internal comment history public.

Define the test

Agree the source-page and complexity limit, outputs, review owner, one correction round and the point when the turnaround clock starts.

Inspect the evidence

Ask for a versioned proof, source comparison, issue log and manifest. Review what was checked and what remains outside scope instead of relying on an unqualified filing-ready label.

Expand only after review

Debrief defects, communication and actual effort. A successful pilot can support a next batch, not an unlimited retainer or automatic competence in every form family.

Scope and primary reference

Educational production guidance only. Client disclosure approval, legal/accounting judgement, qualified tagging review and filing authority remain separate. Confirm the appropriate qualified review and current requirements for each live assignment.

Reference: Current official SEC guidance. Verify the current requirements for the agreed job.
